The organizer gave some important information at the beginning - Saturday's route will be about 140 km divided into 4 stages, 28 participants were registered, the oldest vehicle - NSU 6PS from 1925, our 201 OSL from 1938 turned out to be the youngest of the vehicles. New this year - a map with the route and destinations marked for each participant. Could it be that the organizers read my complaints on our forum about its absence in the previous edition? The whole concept of the event was similar to the previous one from 2023, of course with a different route, with different program items. This year we visited Krabatmuhle, or the Krabat Mill, in the town of Schwarzkollm. An interesting place, I admit that I had not heard of Krabat before, a character from a popular legend in Lusatian culture.
The next stop was Altdobern, where a break for coffee or ice cream was planned, depending on your preferences. For me, a surprise was the miniature cemetery of Soviet soldiers who died in 1945, located in the middle of the market square. The cemetery is well-kept, with trimmed grass and fresh flowers. The next, last place of rest was the area around the town of Werchow, where there is a farm breeding eagles and hunting falcons. For over an hour we witnessed training shows of these huge and magnificent birds.
Despite some problems with our 201 OSL, at around 5:30 p.m. all participants were already at the base in Trattendorf. The tasting of good beer from the barrel and dishes prepared in the form of a buffet began at the motorcycles displayed on the square. After a whole day of riding - this is something for us!
The weather forecasts were not very optimistic, but fortunately they did not come true – there was no precipitation. The only discomfort could be the temperature, from about 8°C in the morning to about 18°C at the warmest moment of the day.
Finally, some statistics, the following NSUs took part in Saturday's rally: 6PS – 1 pc, 502T – 3 pcs, 501/601 T/TS about 17 pcs, 201/251/501 OSL – 4 pcs and the previously unregistered PONY 100.
We would like to thank the Organizers and Participants for their warm welcome and patience in overcoming the language barrier, for looking after my wife on the route (201 OSL and 501 OSL accompanied her almost constantly). Hans-Joachim Halaczek – thank you for the small gifts, for the cool NSU T-shirt. Klaus-Peter Noack – thank you for showing us the charms of Saxony and your vehicle collection. We had a great time, Wir sehen uns, Freunde!
